Job Details Job Location: Orlando - GEMD - Semoran - Orlando , FL 32807 Position Type: Full Time Travel Percentage: Negligible Job Shift: On Site Job Summary A Patient Service Specialist will play a very key role in the success of the facility and the patient’s overall experience. Strict adherence to organizational Protocols and Values is a must. A Patient Service Specialist will work in a fast-paced and exciting environment and apply their skills in a highly visible and critical role. GEMD provides non-hospital-based emergency care in a hyper-efficient delivery of Emergency Medicine Specialty Services combined with an outpatient facility efficiently providing high quality care that can yield lower ER visits, lower hospital admissions, and create savings. Essential Job Functions Entering new patients into the patient database. Verifying insurance. Getting authorization from insurance companies. Putting together patient charts. Scheduling patient appointments. Collecting copays and contracted rates from patients. Coordinating admissions. Auditing charts for completeness and obtaining any missing information from the clinical team. Follow the information security policies and management system, contributing to their effectiveness, and actively reporting on their performance. Qualifications Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not currently have supervisory responsibilities. Required Education High School diploma or equivalent required. Required Experience N/A Required Licenses and Certifications N/A Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must successfully pass a Level 2 background screen and drug test. Able to perform the duties expected for an active role in a busy office environment (standing, walking, teaching, public speaking, pulling, pushing, lifting, etc.). Ability to use all necessary office equipment (faxes, copiers, computers, telephones, etc.). Able to stand and work up to 12-hours in a day. Preferred Qualifications Active BLS certification is strongly preferred. Previous patient services experience in a medical office setting is preferred. Languages Legibly write English, clearly speak English and proficiently read English. Bilingual Spanish is preferred. Travel Up to 30% travel to support clinic operations across the market. Travel may include coverage at other clinic locations, trainings, meetings, and other operational needs as they arise. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment and must be able to exert regularly up to 10 pounds of force, frequently exert 30 pounds of force and occasionally exert 50 pounds of force to constantly perform the essential job functions. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Environmental Conditions Inside: The employee is subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is subject to noise; there may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
